Fall sewing

New winter work pants.  Tried the apostrophe joggers, had to take an inch off of the height of the top but then they fit well.  I must have entered measurements up to my bellybutton but that isn’t where I want to wear my pants.

Same pattern of joggers but larger fit and super fun fuzzy fabric.  It is a bamboo that is fuzzy on the inside.  So soft.

Sweatshirt for mom for Christmas

Kind of matching for me.  The striped sleeves make it mixed prints.

Aaron loved his sling back and wanted the larger version only a bit larger than the pattern so I projected this larger than the pattern (large enough to fit his iPad.). Worked out just fine.

New pjs in a 3/4 length

New dresses for lily and myself.  Hasn’t been cool enough on Sunday to wear them yet.  I was going to use mine for trunk or treat or Halloween but I was out of town for trunk or treat and had to work on Halloween.  By the time I got home I didn’t feel like changing.

New fun shirt for lily.

RS. Activity was heat transfer vinyl shirts.  I had nothing fall color or solid, but found this fabric in my stash and made this shirt real quick.  It actually went to the activity with no hems yet, got the vinyl put on then got home to put hems in it.

New t-shirt for Brandon.  He needs new clothes with his weight loss.  He picked this fabric from a preorder at the styled magnolia.  It is bamboo.

New workout shirt for Brandon - again, smaller size.

New jacket for Brandon -reminds me I never put a pic of the white one I made him.  I need to take one.  This one got put in time out for a while because I really didn’t like sewing that fabric.  3mm neoprene he picked even after I told him not to.  The zipper and collar were so challenging.  I had to sew my least fabric stash fabric for a 52 weeks of sewing challenge, and this won as my least favorite.

This is my Halloween cats shirt.  Made one for lily too.  Hers has cats front and back.  I got the left overs, so I have cats on the front only.  It is super comfy.  Yet another shirt I will use a a pj shirt after wearing because it is so comfy.

Made Emily a bag for her birthday.  This is the inside, below is the outside.  Such a unique pattern.

Chicken fabric shirt for me to go with Brandon’s rooster fabric shirt.

Recycle challenge.  Scraps form another project of repreve (recycled water bottle) fabric.

52 weeks of sewing origami challenge.  I thought I would. Skip this challenge, but then saw some of the posts and decided to give it a go.  It was actually pretty easy.  Just 2 squares sewn together then folded and sewn to make this cute pouch.

New workout tank,  this one gave me all sorts of problems on the binding.  All the issues are hiding on the back.  I’m hoping it looks good stretched.

Summer sewing

Lily did a horseback riding camp so I made some leggings for her.  Made another pair with pastel rainbow dots too but never took a pic.  This fabric didn’t hold up well but the other did.

New shorts in a smaller size for Brandon. Added the zipper on these but I don’t like how it turned out.

Tried some socks this summer.  Here I was trying to use lace, but I didn’t have enough of the other lace I wanted to use and this one was super thin.  Still got the socks made.  I also experimented with faux flatlock or regular seems to see which looked and felt better in socks.

New school outfit for lily

New smaller size workout shirt for Brandon

Aaron needed a Fanny pack or something to hold his phone during marching band.  I saw this pattern at bag of the month club and ended up joining.  I’m excited to see the next 2 months patterns coming up. I loved the way the gusset attached with nice clean corners.  Aaron likes the bag so much he has requested a larger one.

Made lily a lunch kit this year.  It has leopard print on the inside.

More socks.  These ones short ones for lily.

Made a pair of jeans shorts.  They took forever and are way too long waisted for my liking, and too big.  Obviously they stretch more than anticipated but I used the recommended stretch denim.

Another new school outfit for lily

Socks for me

New wallet for me.  I ended up only using the interior.  I had troubles with this because it was super sticky.  I had cut it out on my cricut, and the mat left a residue.  I should have cleaned it up before sewing.  I still use it because it it tiny and matches my purse.

The rest of April and May projects

Wow, I thought I had posted through the first half of May, not April.  I’m always so far behind.  Most of my sewing was done at the beginning of the month this month,  work has been busy the second half of may plus just end of school year…

Here are May makes from the last post until now.

This is my latest bag.  I finished it in April, and forgot to take a picture of it for a couple of weeks.  I love how big it is, and how many pockets it has just in its design.  It is my first bag that was not bound.

Brandon wearing his rooster shirt.

Three more shirts I made Brandon (he has lost a lot of weight and dropped sizes, so he needed some new shirts.  His favorite is the rooster one in this stack.  Hence the picture of him wearing it.

I made theses matching dresses for Lily and I for Mother’s Day.  I love the pattern and feel of the fabric.  It is Bamboo.  I was going to make the same pattern but the double cross over made it past my confidence to modify to a lily size (modify to not have a bust but fit more straight.). I ended up buying a similar pattern for her in an actual kids size to save myself from messing up my nice fabric, and get it done by Mother’s Day.

This is the first shirt I made Brandon after he lost weight.  He also loves t his one because he has the nickname bear.  Not sure why when I upload photos here they come out in a random order.  I add them in a group but select them in order taken which is chronological and they come out all weird.

I like this pattern and have made 2 shirts from it both of which I have managed to spill bleach on.  This time I used a different type of fabric.  This is bamboo Lycra so super comfy.  I love this style to throw on over leggings after work because it is a bit longer and has a fun drone.

Here is a shirt I made for me with the left over fabric from my mom’s shirt.  This cut was a remnant that had more than a yard which was nice since it let me get a shirt out of it.  The back is plain purple though, but I don’t care.  This one should be right next to my mom’s shirts, because I finished it just after those.

Here is a dress that I had in a box for ages.  I started cutting it out, then. Didn’t have enough fabric to get the bottom piece cut because it was cut in a big spiral type shape.  I finally got a solid that matched well enough to use for the skirt.

I made a couple of shirts for my mom - one for her birthday and one for Mother’s Day.  She snapped some selfies for me.

Really happy about the selfies today since I accidentally erased the picture I took of this shirt.  I love this fabric when I went and picked it up.  Too bad there wasn’t enough for a shirt for me.

Most of February, March and half of April sewing

So not sure how I haven’t posted since January.  I was called as RS president at the end of that month and my number of clients increased so I haven’t had nearly as much sewing time but I swear I posted in February.  I guess not.  Here is the rundown of things I’ve made since January -in no apparent order because that is how they decided to upload and I’m too lazy to change it.

I finished this purse back in March on the actual week that was sew a bag of wallet.  I had been working on this for months.  I started it last year but my sewing machine broke.  When I got back to it i had to get new faux leather for the strap because they had been clipped too long.  Then as I was working I kept finding new pieces of hardware I was missing - even down to zipper pulls at the end.  Had the zipper - no pulls.  The last bit of missing items was the binding.  Luckily that only required a trip to Hobby Lobby and I finally finished the bag.  I love it.  It is a great size and I can never believe that I made it.

I made this for Lily for Valentine’s Day but forgot to give it to her until after Valentine’s Day facepalm🤦‍♀️
She loves it though.  Same pattern I had pattern tested that she is so fond of because it shows her belly when she lifts her arms.  Ugh!

I finished this in February and thought I wouldn’t be able to use it this year because it was a warm February but we got a few more cold days and I was able to use it.

This is my latest shirt.  I just finished it yesterday.  I’m still debating doing the sew the alphabet at Sinclair - I may do some but not all of it.  This is my B - the pattern is called Brooke (I think)

I just did the vinyl here.  Made this for a client of mine that has been with me a couple of years.

This was a buy on a whim and has quickly become one of my favorite shirts.  I made my favorite raglan pattern for make your favorite patter and 52 weeks.  I accidentally cut it on the v neck line, but am really happy with how this turned out.  I’ve used this pattern tons for sweatshirts but never for a t-shirt.

Another shirt I made for a client.

This is my latest Mommy/Daughter set.  Lily loves tigers, so this seemed like fun.  Fabric is made from recycled water bottles.  I love that.  This pattern is my letter A for Sinclair sew the alphabet.  It is named Alana.  I love that it has pockets and was easy to color block because this was retail at Sew Dynamic and there was only so much of each fabric.  I love how it turned out.  I’ll keep it for a long time.  Lily will grow out of it by next year.

This was a fun make - I wanted new long pants for work but black gets boring.  I got this panel from The Styled Magnolia and went to work figuring out which pattern I could use to make the flowers go down one leg (they are in a wavy pattern on the print). I also wanted one leg all black to justify using them as work pants.  I was left with the skull from the other side of the panel so I made a matching tank top.  I used a striped mesh on the back with criss cross straps to be used as my 52 weeks something with an interesting back.

I had to sew something with batting.  I really wasn’t enthused and had picked a small narwhal made out of a sock but couldn’t make myself want to do it.  Then I stumbled across this pattern that I had downloaded free from Patterns for Pirates a while ago and decided to make a poop emoji for Lily.  She loves this emoji for some reason.  Too many brothers I think.

This is my pilates shirt.  Red because my regular work shirt is red.  I originally bought this shirt in a medium to fit my shoulders then took it in in the sides before adding the vinyl.

I feel like I have made more than this but this is what I see with pictures right now.  I did make another purse that I finished last week.  I also have a shirt that I will finish today - it just needs a hem and other topstitching.  I also am working on pattern testing a no waste pattern.  That has been interesting but not super successful as far as fit goes.  I need to go see if I can resurrect them somehow.  They were originally for Duncan but the shirt is way too feminine looking.  The pants could be ok, but they are too tight in the crotch.  I’m going to see if there is any way to make them wearable.
